Everyone should avoid phthalates, as everyone is at risk for hormonal imbalances and other health issues associated with phthalate absorption and phthalate ingestion.
Who is most at risk to health issues caused by phthalates?
Babies are at a high risk for developing health issues, as they are at a major developmental stage in their lives; therefore, phthalate ingestion has a greater effect on babies, as the chemicals can directly interfere with the child's internal growth. Consequently, pregnant women are also at a higher risk for developing health issues, as they are carrying a growing baby. The phthalates ingested or absorbed by an expecting mother can directly affect her baby.
What should I look for when purchasing products that may contain phthalates?
